HMS Veronica (K37)

HMS ''Veronica'' was a Flower-class corvette, built for the Royal Navy during the Second World War, and was in service in the Battle of the Atlantic.
In 1942 she was transferred to the United States Navy as part of the reverse Lend Lease arrangement and renamed USS ''Temptress'', the name ship of the Temptress-class gunboats.
With the end of hostilities she was returned to the Royal Navy and sold into mercantile service.
==Service history==
''Veronica'' was built at Smiths Dock, Middlesbrough, as part of an order for the French Navy. One of the original Flower class corvettes, she was ordered on 31 August 1939, but was not completed before the fall of France. She was taken over by the Royal Navy, launched on 17 October 1940 and completed on 18 February 1941.〔Elliott p188〕
